| Dog Walk Base Kit An engineered masterpiece, these ultra-sturdy plastic bases are lightweight for transport, and feature carefully placed cross-supports that alleviate all sway and bounce. These can be used for backyard use or competitions. They can also be folded flat for storage. Some assembly required.
These dogwalk bases are 36" tall. To complete this obstacle you need to purchase just 3 @ 8' boards and paint (the inexpensive boards are commonly stocked items in all lumber stores). You will be supplied everything else, including: - A Pair of Bases
- Custom Hinges with quick pull-out pins. These are required for quick disassembly of the boards.
- Molded slats (pre-cut) to attach to the planks (enough for the up and down planks. None required for the top plank)
- Sand for sprinkling on the wet paint (required for traction on the planks)
- Hardware (bolts, nuts, nails) needed for assembly
- EASY (Visual) Step-by-Step Instructions for assembly and preparing the boards.
"What exactly must I get to complete this obstacle?" (Note: you can print out this page if you will be getting your supplies early, but we will send this information again with the assembly instructions) 1) THREE WOOD BOARDS 8 foot boards if you get the 36" base kit (12" wide, 2" thick). Most lumber/garden stores have these boards already cut to these sizes. Don't get pressure-treated boards, as they are far too heavy. A regular hem fir board works perfect. Expect to pay approximately $10-$12 a board.
2) PAINT. * yellow paint for the "contact zones". * some other contrasting color of your choice. Blue is popular. A 1/2 gallon is all you need for each color, though you may want more for touch-ups and repainting next season. Many paint stores and larger home & garden stores have mismatched ("oops") paint for $3-4 a gallon. Exterior paint is highly recommended, latex is better than oil for ease of cleanup, and semi-gloss is best. 2) A drill, to drill holes for the bolts to hold the hinges on. (you can screw them on with wood screws, but it is better to bolt them on), and a mallet would be great for pounding the pieces in securely. . "Is the sand and slats necessary?" Yes, both are necessary for anti-slip traction. They are also required according to the "rules". Both are included with the kit. (no slats on the top plank, only sand). "How easy is it to separate the boards?" Very easy with our quick pull-out pin hinges. No tools needed. ***Please choose UPS as shipping method as this item ships directly from the manufacturer. |
